Describe yourself, your background and what you do today.
After having completed my business studies, I started working in the banking sector straight away. I’m currently in charge of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for Bank Van Breda.

How has where you come from shaped who you are?
I always follow my instinct and am passionate about the world of entrepreneurship. Helping businesses grow is of great interest to me.

How would you describe your attitude to work?
I work seriously, but also rather informally and with the utmost friendliness. Without fun, you won’t feel fulfilled.

On a personal note, what would you say you’re the proudest of?
I’m always proud to hear people say that I offer a smooth-going experience as a banker.

To you, what is a Ketje?
A carefree person, never taking himself too seriously and enjoying life with complete freedom.

What do you think distinguishes Belgium, and its people, from the rest?
Our surrealism.

If you had to nominate three people that, to you, best symbolised Belgium in its full glory, who would they be and why?
Magritte, precisely for his surrealism. Stromae, for his mixing of culture, which sums up our diversified identity pretty well. Sylvain, a real Ketje!

If you had to take out-of-towners to one essential restaurant in Belgium, which one would it be?
Bistro Tribunal in Leuven: a trendy little brewery like so many others in Belgium, yet with a wide choice of matured meats. A friendly service, as is common in this country.

If you had to take visiting guests out on a Sunday tourist trail, where would you take them and why?
To the Îlot Sacré in downtown Brussels, near the Grand Place. Every little street has an exciting story behind it. One day simply wouldn’t be enough to discover the entire history of this neighbourhood.

Sauces, in Belgium at least, are intrinsically linked to French fries. What’s your combination of choice?
Dallas sauce, without a doubt! Sauce brésil with fries are great too. Something for Brussels Ketjep to consider next?

Why do Belgians do it better?
Because we do everything with love, pleasure and above all plenty of derision!
